Barbuda may have saved my life, now I have to help save her! (read more below)
On Sept 6th 2017 hurricane Irma passed directly over Barbuda, destroying 90-95% of the island. Barbuda is only 62 sq miles in size and is home to 1200 people. The island has been deemed uninhabitable as of right now. The people on the island are my family and childhood friends. There has been 1 death reported so far (a baby boy). The people have NOTHING!
I lived in Barbuda for 10 years, my mother moved me down there at 4 years old for 6 mths a year from Rexdale... being in Barbuda most likely kept me from getting caught up in the gun violence in Mt. Olive. I've been there many times since leaving and even though it's a beautiful country the people had very little to begin with. After Irma the country is now in dire need off assistance.
I'm trying to raise atleast $25,000 to help the people of my home island, Barbuda. There will be bigger aid groups helping with major things BUT I know all of the 1200 people there, on top of food and water and things like toothpaste, soap, blankets, hygiene products are in need. They are estimating that $150 million is needed to rebuild the island. My family is heavily involved with the government there and I'm planning to personally make sure this money gets to the people on the island. Whole families are in ruin right now and need our help.

My name is Andrew, i'm from Toronto, Canada, my mother L. James (who is a Barbudan native) raised me in Barbuda from the age of 4-14.
Your relationship or contact to the parties you're raising funds for:
With a population of 1200, I'm related to the James, Harris, Beazer families and more on the island. Reuben James (my Uncle and former Senator), my cousins Vaughn and Eartha James and would be my main contacts.
How the funds will be spent (be specific as possible):
Food (non parishables)
Water (bottled, filtered)
blankets
body soap
toothpaste and brushes
femine hygiene products
tarps and or other materials for creating shelter
Your withdrawal plan to get the funds from the campaign to the ultimate beneficiary/ies:
As a former resident of the island, and to avoid any mishandling of funds. I will be personally withdrawing funds and travelling down with a small team (paying for our own tickets) to buy and distribute goods to the people of Barbuda.
