I’ve started this campaign for my cousin Daniel and his wife Lindsey Bedoya who are focused on helping save the horses affected by this catastrophic disaster. They need your help in providing much needed feed, hay, medications, and other supplies to aide displaced horses and their owners due to Hurricane Harvey. All collected funds will go towards helping save and shelter the horses.
This disaster is affecting so many people and so many of our four-legged friends. Over the last three days, using trailers and a boat, Daniel and others have been evacuating as many horses as possible to dry ground, over 40 horses and the numbers keep rising. It is an understatement to say that the devastation and loss of life they have witnessed is deeply heart breaking.
Many horses have been taken in at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center and the Sam Houston Race Park, as well as their farm in Magnolia. Horses exposed to the flood waters will need care and medications to combat serious skin and hoof infections. Basic supplies such as buckets, shavings, halters, and lead ropes are much needed.
Some of these horses will not be going back to their homes for quite some time, some not at all. We ask for help in providing some relief to these animals and their owners. Many of these people are longtime friends, others are new friends gained through this tragedy.
Bedoya Training Stables, owned and operated by Daniel and Lindsay Bedoya, is a family owned business in the Houston area and so much of their equine community has been effected by this catastrophic storm. Their horses are their family, as is the case for many of those they are trying to help. They are a well-respected member of a deeply connected equine community. Horses are their passion.
