Hurricane Harvey Animal Assistance

Tax deductible
      Hurricane Harvey Animal Assistance Fund

On September 14, 2017, Santa Barbara County Animal Services is expected to receive adoptable animals rescued from the Hurricane Harvey disaster zones. We are working in partnership with affected shelters to accept owner surrendered and homeless animals so those facilities have enough space for all evacuated animals. All three County locations, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Lompoc , will offer shelter, medical care, and opportunities for new homes to these animals in-need. We anticipate these animals will require medical and behavior care related to their life-changing ordeal and routine needs such as heartworm testing and treatment. We are calling on our community to help with the expenses related to recovery from this devastating disaster.

Your donation today will help cover medical and other costs above and beyond what Santa Barbara County can afford. Santa Barbara County Animal Services primary focus remains the animals in Santa Barbara County but since kennel space is available, they are collaborating with local agencies in accepting evacuated animals. Your contribution will support and enhance behavior modification and training, laboratory testing, cost of medical treatments, and enrichment and supplies. Our goal is to promptly provide these dogs and cats with the care they need so we can place them into loving homes.

Animal Services’ staff and team of dedicated volunteers are ready to welcome Hurricane Harvey animals with open-arms. With your help, we can ensure these animals receive everything they need to start their new life in Santa Barbara County.

The SBC Animal Care Foundation is an independent nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that was established to augment the County’s Animal Services budget. The Foundation helps ensure that Santa Barbara County maintains a 93 percent Live Release Rate of stray, homeless, injured, and ill animals – and is able to reach out to other animals, such as Hurricane Harvey survivors, who desperately need our help.  Please know that all donations received are not paid to the county.  100% of the money raised go directly to the care of these animals and paid to those providing direct service, such as the veterinarian specialist or trainer.
