Their Story

Hudson Cole Davis was unexpectedly born on February 6, 2018 more than ten weeks premature, weighing only two pounds and eight ounces. His mother, Carissa, had been admitted to the hospital suffering from preeclampsia and a series of serious health symptoms referred to as HELLP syndrome. Complications continued for Mommy, resulting in cesarean delivery for little Hudson. He is now placed in the neonatal intensive care unit for a long stay until he reaches his original due date of April 20. This allows for him to receive the care and monitoring he needs to progress. At a future date, Hudson will be transferred to Madison Children’s Hospital to undergo surgery to fix his post-urethral valve syndrome.

Purpose

The creation of this donation page will be used to help the Davis family with hospital costs, traveling costs and all other things Hudson needs to be a happy, healthy baby boy. Each day spent in the NICU costs around $15,000. Considering the length of Hudson's stay, it adds up to over $1 million. Insurance will cover most of it, but not all. With the hospital located 45 minutes from home, the cost of traveling back and forth every day has become very expensive as well. Edward, the father, drives for over two hours each day to visit Hudson before he works in Watertown, WI.

This situation was very unexpected and has taken some major adjustment. There have been ups and downs through the journey, but Hudson has proven to be a resilient little boy, making small improvements each day.
