Horses Helping Children with Autism

"This is my son Lance. Lance has autism. Every week, he gets to go to the Horse Boy ranch to ride horses, play with a variety of animals, and work on his various challenges.
Lance has trouble with language and social interaction. Lance has problems self regulating and is often agressive. He is sometimes self-injurious, and is often anxious and overwhelmed. My son's cognitive development is closer to a 3 or 4 year old than an 8 year old.
When Lance goes to Horse Boy...
Lance is free and has friends. Lance is supported, and connects to nature and animals. No one has any expectations of him. Lance can be himself, and is happy. He can relax and work on his cognitive challenges without pressure. Lance is accepted. Lance is "normal". Lance is loved. ..." - T.M.

In the United States 1% of the population of children ages 3-17 have autism. It is the fastest growing developmental disability.
Families experience high levels of anxiety and stress. The demands of living with autism can be overwhelming.
Rupert Isaacson created Horse Boy Foundation after a horse named Betsy, and a journey on horseback in Mongolia transformed his autistic son Rowan.
Horse Boy Foundation provides autism families with supportive services, camps and playdates in a rural setting with horses and other animals - free of charge.
