A Ride For Rylan

Our 10 year old Rylan, has grown to be 80+ lbs and 5+ feet tall. This is wonderful and truly amazing because of all his diagnoses. This growth, though wonderful for Rylan, has made transporting/transferring him a daily challenge. Lifting him is something his grandmother does several times a day, as he is completely dependent on her. Lifting him from his wheelchair to place him in his car seat then lifting the wheelchair (which has also gotten bigger and heavier, 95 lbs) into the van and lifting both back out again.
The van they have now is in terrible shape, leaking oil and continuous electrical problems. They must travel 250 miles each way to see the doctors Rylan needs to see. His therapy is 30 miles away. Dentist is also 30 miles away. All of his fittings for equipment, braces etc are even further then the 30 miles. They live in Rural Louisiana so they must travel for pretty much everything.
About Rylan- he had a stroke in utero, with no medical determination of why. The stroke caused the blood to his little brain to be blocked causing most of his brain to die off. He has seizures and cerebral palsy. His optic nerves did not grow causing him to be blind. He now requires the use of a wheelchair whenever he is up or out, he has grown too big now for my mom to carry. He requires weekly therapies, frequent doctor appointments and requires trips to New Orleans doctors and Hospitals often, which is a 4 hour drive away.
Because of these reasons we are raising money to help her get a wheelchair accessible van.
