Hope 4 Martin--GOAL MET !!!
In a nutshell: We raise money to pay Martin's room rent and to meet daily expenses for his needs. He is physically unable to work, to earn a living; without our help, he would be homeless.
A little bit more about Martin; he is just one of the kindest souls you will ever meet--a widower, who, until August of last year, had been living on the street,homeless,and very, very, sick. 
Today, hopeful, then, admittedly, willing to let life slip away.
Martin has Type 2 Diabetes with complications that range from peripheral neuropathy, irrevesible nerve damage, balance issues , and is daily at risk for severe blood clotting. These conditions compounded had made it impossible for him to earn a "living wage" and kept him homeless for over nearly 18 months before we came to know, fully, of his needs.
When we met Martin, at our church (Mariners Huntington Beach), he was asked if he wanted help, and if others were gathered around to help, would he do what he could, his share, in staying off the streets...he said YES, and our journey began.
After weeks of searching/applying/attempting to place him in a shelter with a program that could address his physical complications, along with starting the legal process for assistance, we quickly found we would not be able to go the "tradtional" route, if we were to do OUR part in helping Maritn stay off the street.
He didnt qualify for any of the shelter programs that would lead to permanantly providing a life off the street... the idea of "passing him off", in one misguided helper's words , would not be so easy...nor was what those with GENUINE caring hearts and motives ever meant to do. So we searched for housing and began fundraising to meet that expense.
In short:This page was set up to meet necessary daily expenses until finanacial assistance could be established thru alternate means AND permanent housing, able to meet Martin's unique needs, could be obtained. Housing(shelter) has been acquired but ongoing assistance to meet daily needs and pay rent has yet to be secured...so...
Please consdier a donation of ANY size. The monies collected go toward tarnsportation costs,daily expenses and room rent.
