I'm asking for $100,000 to start up a charity that will be called "Free Will".
The money will be used for startup cost, and awareness.
Most of the money that comes into the charity will be used for advocacy, education, and housing for our clients. "Free Will" will be a charity that will give the homeless a hand up, not a hand out, starting in Bradford County, PA area.
My idea is to set up a program where the homeless can come to get shelter, education, and the second chance they need to be able to become functional members of society.
General Homelessness Facts
On any given night, there are approximately 643,067 people experiencing homelessness in America.
238,110 of those people are in families
25% suffer from mental illness, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression
17% are considered chronically homeless
13% are fleeing domestic violence
12% are veterans
What does "homeless" mean?
The Department of Housing and Urban Development defines homelessness in four broad categories:
People who are living in a place not meant for human habitation, in emergency shelter, in transitional housing, or are exiting an institution where they temporarily resided.
People who are losing their primary nighttime residence, which may include a motel or hotel or a doubled-up situation, within 14 days and lack resources or support networks to remain in housing.
Families with children or unaccompanied youth who are unstably housed and likely to continue in that state.
People who are fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence, have no other residence, and lack the resources or support networks to obtain other permanent housing.
With awareness, and education we can end homelessness.
