From Brandon, a local high school student and campaign volunteer --------

As veterans, people shouldn’t have to worry about coming home to well, no home.
Some of the people who are returning from fighting for our country aren’t coming home to what they thought their home was going to be like and that just didn’t sit well with many in the community.
This was created to help those who need an extra push to get back on their feet after coming home to their country. The campaign is run by vets for vets. So there is an actual connection between the participants of the campaign and the people the campaign is trying to reach out to and help.

Members of the Homeless Veterans Awareness Campaign, or HVAC, set up encampments around Lebanon dressed in “homeless” attire for 30 hours with signs telling people about the campaign and what we stand for. Donations are accepted only by the members of the campaign and the funds go straight to the programs that support and assist homeless veterans seeking assistance or financial help. There is a lot of pride taken in this campaign by the members who make up the committee, and the amount of support that is given to them is astonishing.

The results of the campaign in the past years are amazing.
In the first year, $5,500 was raised and three homeless veterans were enrolled into the VA system.
The year after that, $11,000 was amassed and five veterans enrolled in the VA.
Nearly 100% of the donations are sent immediately to the homeless veteran programs the campaign is supporting. The support they receive from this campaign is an important reason it is set to keep going annually, for as long as it possibly can, helping as many veterans as possible along the way.
“If we can bring awareness to one town, and even one vet, that’s what we’re here to do,” -Bill Meiser
