My name is Farid Acheka. I am 24 years old. On 19 February 2020 I moved from Norway to London to get started on my dream to become a professional football player. Football is what I absolutely love doing, it is my life's passion and it makes me happy…I started football at the age of eight.
A few weeks after I arrived in London I went from chasing my dream to becoming homeless. As lockdown set in I ended up rough sleeping for 6 weeks. I was lucky to be picked up by community organisation Under One Sky who has supported me in a hostel. Each day I visit soup kitchens and food banks for food.
I cannot continue to sustain myself this way and I am working on making the right steps such as finding a job to get out of the hole I find myself in while still fighting to make my dream come true.
Why fund me?
Despite my current situation I am trying my hardest to stay fit and play matches. I train in the park outside the hostel each day.
With your donations I can afford the basic kit needed to keep playing and pitch fees for playing matches. Cover my travel expenses and day to day living expenses such as groceries, toiletries and essential clothing. I lost most of my possessions when I became homeless.
I would also get the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with my mother and siblings in Norway. They do not know the pursuit of my dream ended in homelessness shortly after. I struggle to tell them as it would break their hearts.
