Funeral & Memorial Services for Chae K. Ray

Hello Everyone !

My name is Sarah & I am a single mother of 3 . This is my VERY first time doing a fundraiser & this fundraiser is for a good cause . Chae was a great woman , strong , smart , sassy & always kept you on your P’s & Q’s . Chae was also my “aunt” but more like my mother , she raised me , watched over me & no matter what I did .. Right or wrong , she stood by my side . 2 Years ago she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer . The doctor told us she would have 6MOS to 1YR to live . That was in 2018 , she beat those odds & kept pressing forward . Starting October of 2019 her health rapidly started going downhill . She would constantly be sick , lose of appetite , slept all day & she just wasn’t herself . She was in & out of the hospital for the past 6 months . I knew things weren’t right when she called me one day out of the blue to ask me “When are you coming over here ? I want you to do my hair so we can go out & go swimming in the ocean . Did you buy me the swim suit I asked for ? Where are my clothes I asked you to bring ? What happened to my hair ? Where did it go ?” I won’t ever forget that conversation .. That night I went over to her house , bathe her , fed her , her favorite food , cuddled & watched a movie after movie . We woke up just fine the next day , I went home & about 6 hours later .. I got a call saying , She was on her way to the hospital in an A-Car & i should get to the hospital as fast as I could because there might not be much time . I dropped everything .. Went to the hospital & by the time I got to her room .. She was pronounced dead @ 1:30AM on 11/16/2020 I am reaching out to the public because financially I am STRUGGLING , it is tight & I have NO wiggle room . I am on unemployment right now because work is VERY slow . My checks barely scrap the top of the bills we have at home & I just can’t let myself NOT do the right thing by letting the hospital take over . She DESERVES a proper burial & memorial . I am beyond devastated right now , I am trying to stay strong for my kids but I’m hopelessly breaking down inside one day at a time . My aunt always told me that she wanted to be cremated & to spread her ashes in the ocean . I want to be able to carry out that request for her . I also would like to still have a headstone made & put in , so other family & friends can still visit her from time to time . Her memorial services is 1/3rd of the cost I am trying to raise to be able to share beautiful memories of Chae in her 87 years of life . This will be the last time we get to celebrate this queen in her glory . I wouldn’t do this .. But please , if you can find it in your heart to spare anything towards my moms burial & memorial , anything is welcomed even prayers ❤️ I am just trying to raise enough money to keep her memory alive . I know that times are tough for everyone during this pandemic but for the ones who can spare anything to help , that would be graciously welcomed & humbly received ❤️ Thank you for helping me keep my Moms last wishes // requests alive .
