Holy Child Sch. Kitchen Proj.

Holy Child School is a secondary cycle educational institution for females ages 13-18 years. It is situated on a hill in the central region coastal town of Cape Coast in Ghana, West Africa.  

Founded in 1946 by the Catholic Society of the Holy Child Jesus, the school was established to provide a holistic Christian education for young women, so that they could strive to achieve higher educational limits and become "Women of Substance".  The school opened its doors with 50 students on roster.  Today, it has over 1000 students. With the motto:  'Facta Non Verba' which simply means ‘Actions Not Words’, students of this school lead by doing, and are encouraged to live exemplary lives as role models,  and future leaders.

Next year, the school will commemorate its 69th anniversary with a speech and prize giving day, where graduates as well as deserving students from all levels, will be recognized for their academic and social accomplishments.  Each year, the 25-year Alumni Class undertakes and commissions a special project which is presented to the school during this annual event.  The Holy Child Class of 1990 has chosen to renovate the school kitchen and dining hall facilities as its year group gift to the school.  So, why this choice?

The school’s kitchen and dining facilities have not been renovated since it opened in 1946.  The kitchen and dining hall (where students ate 3 meals a day), are in dire need of major renovations.   Facilities revealed cracked floors, leaky ceilings, broken tiles, and inefficient plumbing that presents environmental hazards for the students. In addition, kitchen equipment is outdated, and the use of rudimentary pots, pans, and fire pits fueled by charcoal is still in use.
 
The total cost of the project cost is estimated at USD $30,000.  We ask for your help to assist in this task and ensure that the students of this school can have safe, healthy and modern facilities for their kitchen  No amount is too small.  Our girls deserve clean, nutritious food cooked in safe environments.
