Hit the Green for Dean

My amazing nephew, Dean Thomas Havey, was born on June 1st of 2011 to my inspiring Sister and Brother-in-law. On June 10th of 2011 they learned he had Cystic Fibrosis thanks to the newborn screening tests that exist and are required in Indiana. 

Before that day, I knew nothing about this disease. I had no idea what it was, what it would do, or what would happen. My knowledge and my families knowledge of Cystic Fibrosis has grown immensly since June of last year. But, we still do not know what it will do in Dean or what will happen. We know that right now he is doing AMAZING. He just turned 1 this past June and enjoyed a family vacation to Alabama where he swam in the ocean and played in the sand for the first time. He is thriving and is a perfect little nephew. 

I want to thank everyone in advance for their love and support given to me and my family over the past year. Dean is the most amazing gift my has ever received and I know he is going to thrive and redefine CF for the next generation. Just getting to be apart of this little man's life and see his smile light up a room gives me enough reason to work to better his life.
