Vaccination for Hepatitis B in India

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

Please can you help me support the Hospital administrators at Tsepal Tobkyed Hospital in India who have requested financial support for a much needed Hepatitis B Vaccination Programme, starting with vaccinations for 4000 people.

The Vaccination Programme will begin with Screening of symptoms, Hepatitis B vaccinations will then be given in three doses over three consecutive months. The cost of the Vaccination Programme for the 4000 people is estimated to be just over 3 million Indian Rupees which is about £30,000 (British Pounds).

I am striving to raise as much money as we can with your help!
All Donations from the Heart are appreciated :-)
Many small numbers add up to become very Big.
Thank you.

What is Hepatitis B you may ask and how serious is the situation ?

Below is Staggering information that I was unaware of before getting involved with this Appeal.

Hepatitis B is a highly infectious inflammatory disease of the liver. Symptoms of mild fever, nausea/vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain typically last for six months, but in chronic cases carriers have progressive liver disease which can cause cirrhosis and cancers of the liver. India is home to an estimated 36 million chronic cases, 11% of the world’s total and has between 100 000 and 200 000 deaths from hepatocellular carcinoma or cirrhosis each year. Unlike the developed world, where transmission is often associated with unsafe sex and injected drug use, in India the infection spreads through crowded living conditions and poor hygiene, contaminated blood transfusions, medical and dental treatments, and the sharing of toothbrushes, razors and even towels. Hepatitis B is 50 – 100 times more infectious than HIV. It is a major public health problem in India, so it is important that we support this vaccination programme. Where the hepatitis B vaccination is administered, cases of the disease are reduced by more than 95% !
