Project Cameroon, Africa!!

I hope this message is greeting you in the best of health.

Truth is, there are humans like us who are not in good health; in fact they struggle each and every day just to survive because they don't have medical attention and walk marathons to access some clean water. There are nations who are not just unable to get an education which to most, is a basic right but they don't even have the opportunity to educate hem selves or their kids the way we are blessed with education. 

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 36% of children under five are stunted through lack of adequate nutrition. With a severe shortage of medical professionals "“ there are fewer than two doctors for every 10,000 people "“ the Cameroonian health system struggles to offer a high level of care. Some experts say the charging of fees in Cameroon's hospitals has caused patients to die for lack of medical care when they were unable to pay for treatment. There are 440 000 adults living with HIV/AIDS in Cameroon (WHO).

There were over 1.8 million cases of malaria during 2009 and increasing since (WHO). According to government data, less than 40% of the population have access to piped drinking water. And fewer than half of Cameroonians have proper sanitation facilities. Illnesses linked to unsafe water and poor hygiene, such as cholera and diarrhoea, are a regular threat.

In the summer of 2014 I will be going on a journey to Cameroon, Africa to provide Free healthcare and education to the less unfortunate in developing regions. This project has been a goal for me to achieve and I am finally able to have the opportunity to make a change world wide through the help of an organization called Ascovime (http://ascovime.org). I will be travelling with a team of elite doctors, Dr. Bwelle who was nominated as CNN's top 10 Heros for 2013 is the head of these doctors with whom I will have the honor of working with. Dr. Bwelle witnessed his father pass away due to a lack of medical support and supplies. In Cameroon, there is one Doctor for every 5,000 people, going with Dr. Bwelle will help those 5,000 people who need medical attention have Free health care and prescription. His expertise will inspire me and I seek to gain knowledge in this experience for my future endeavors and goals.

"...providing free healthcare and distributing school supplies to over 3000 kids and 200 teachers! We all know how hard teachers work, but imagine if you don't have the supplies to teach. This is a large humanitarian mission under the looming presence of Mt. Cameroon that needs your help to provide these kids and teachers with the supplies they need for the upcoming school year" - (2011, Ascovime).

It is very exciting to be able to serve the community and take part in this humanitarian cause but I need some funds to be able to achieve such a task successfully. This expedition is costly when broken down to it's travel and transportation, application of visa and other paperwork, food expenses, location to stay, safety and security, and a huge expense for medical and school supplies; all of which is necessary for me to able to fulfill my goal I am truly passionate about. A few simple dollars can make the change for another human in need, and it's only a few clicks away.
