The Backstory
The Wyvern School Ashford Kent is a special school for children with profound, severe and complex needs, receiving glowing comments for the incredible work they do to give every pupil as natural a life as possible. An essential activity is taking pupils out and about because of the positive effect on their health and well-being. Going out allows them to participate more in society and get to do the things that many of us enjoy and take for granted. Sadly, the number of pupils needing schools such as The Wyvern is increasing and with two aging buses opportunities for pupils to get the chance to go out and about regularly is limited, so the need for additional transport has become desperate. The school needs to purchase another bus if its excellent work to bring benefits for pupil outcome can increase.

The Mayor of Ashford Winston Michael together with 4 young people Antonio, Cameron, Ella, and Oliver ask you to sponsor their 15k feet Sky Dive on 19 April by donating generously to their GoFundMe Page at www.gofundme.com/helpmayorwinston. They kindly ask that you encourage family and friends to lend their support and that you share their GoFundMe link with those you know on social media, Linkedin, and email platform. All money raised goes toward the bus and any surplus to other essential needs of the school.
The Outcome
Getting these children out and about more frequently will considerably improve their physical and mental well-being as well as their learning, and allow them to contribute so much more to society. It will build their self-confidence and help them to be more able to mix with society in general through more external social interaction. Last year 640 children who thought they were incapable of doing some things came to realise any thing was possible for them when they drew on their true inner strengths to participate in outdoor activities that were challenging. Schools report that the excitement, fun, and sense of achievement this gave to them saw a complete transformation in their attitude and that they see a more positive approach and enthusiastic participation at school.
