Helping our Neighbors

Organized by Chuck Morris, Argel Rojo, and Outlaw at Western State University College of Law.

On September 19 a 7.1 earthquake hit Mexico City and other states. The violent moving of the earth caused many buildings to collapse leaving hundreds of families without homes.

This is the story of our neighbors, survivors of the earthquake.

They all used to live in the building across the street from my mom's apartment. #173 Niños Heroes de Chapultepec St. We saw them everyday. We said hello to them every morning, and good afternoon after coming home from work. They lost their homes and everything they own on September 19th when their building completely collapsed.

Most of them are people over the age of 60 who are retired or about to be. They lost everything they have and everything they have worked their entire lives.
We need to help them. The city goverment gives financial assistance after a natural disaster towards the rent of a new apartment in the amount of $170 dollars for only 3 months. But typical rent in Mexico City is between $550 and $700 per month. This amount is obviously not enough for anyone to live on.

There's another program to help rebuild the homes that have been destroyed, but this program requires a repayment of $890 per month. These people are retired and do not have any income or savings left. Their apartments and everything in them were all they had...and now they have nothing.

We are Argel Rojo and Charles Morris a non-organization who are rasing this money to help the people that had been the neighbors of our family in Mexico City for more than 10 years.

We live in Los Angeles CA. But Argel's mom, lives in Mexico City across the street from the building that collapsed.

The money we raise here will go directly to my neighbors, in their hands by international wire transfer, to a representative of the families who will distribute the funds equally to each person. Charles (Chuck) Morris, will be withdrawing the funds and depositing directly into a savings account. The funds will then be wire transferred to Argel's mother, Susana Vazquez, by international wire transfer to her savings account in Mexico City. The funds will then be withdrawn and delivered directly to the hands of the families we are helping. Videos will be filmed and posted here showing the money being given to these families. We are avoiding donating to organizations because it is possible they will never receive any aid. So we are doing this for them.

The money will be divided equally among the 13 families who lost everything, including loved ones, when their building completely collapsed. They will use this money to replace clothing, household furniture (matresses, kitchen supplies and appliances, supplies used in their professions which were destroyed, toiletries)...anything and everything they lost.

Please help us by donating. Every dollar counts, in any amount, no matter how small. They count on us.

Thank you!

Gracias!
