Helping Refugees in Iraq

Hi everyone!
My name is Simon and in October I will be travelling to Iraq to work in refugee camps in Kurdistan - in particular with the Yazedi people in the Bajed Kandala camp near Dohuk.
4 years ago, ISIS started a genocide targeting the Yazidi people. The genocide has led to the expulsion, flight and effective exile of the Yazidis from their ancestral lands in Northern Iraq. The genocide led to the abduction of Yazidi women and massacres that killed thousands of Yazidi civilians.
Many men and boys were killed while girls and young women were sold into sexual slavery.
Bajed Kandala camp contains over 10,000 refugees displaced from the conflict in Iraq, in particular as a result of targeted horror from ISIS. These people have endured and lost so much, and its humbling to have the opportunity to help them.
Funds raised though this Go Fund Me will be used for things like:
-replacing the generator in the medical clinic
- purchasing basic medicines and medical supplies.
- buying sewing machines for the small sewing group so that they can develop into a business bringing in an income through the sale of their products
- providing funds to get the camp bakery up and running again - used to help feed people in the camp.
-possible small construction projects at the medical clinic.
My airfares and food etc. are funded personally, so the money raised will go towards these projects.
Ill be travelling with Operation Hope (www.operationhopeaustralia.com) and working with Joint Help for Kurdistan.
If there is any money left over (hopefully!) it will go to Operation Hope to assist the amazing impact they make in Iraq, particularly sending a shipping container filled with medical supplies to the Bajed Kandala camp.
