On Sunday, August 4th 2013, Vu Le was in a severe motorcycling accident during a ride with friends in Western Mass.
Vu sufferred life threatening injuries including a broken spine and spinal cord. With the assistance of his friends who got him to the hospital and doctors who are treating him, he has made it through.
After a very scary week in intensive care and spinal surgery, Vu is in Umass healing from other internal injuries. After he is well enough, Vu hopes to be transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, Ma.
Vu has lost feeling in his lower body and can no longer use his legs. The doctors say he will require months of rehabilitiation and therapy and will be in a wheelchair. The family is devistated but trying to remain strong. Vu is a very loving and active father and husband. He has two sons (Donny and Danny) and a daugther (Kim). His wife, Hong Hoa, has been away from work and by his side everyday.
