Helping Namrata Walk Again

I, Rose Webster am raising money for my high school classmate (from 1976) and friend Namrata Shivalkar. She led a fulfilling life as a wife, mother of two sons, and a clinical lab technician who provided for her family. She used her spare time to make exquisite crochet bags, which she generously shared with her friends and family. She struggled with diabetes and blood pressures issues, but she faced life with courage and determination. Yet, the successful life that she worked to have ended in 2016, when she suffered from an unfortunate cardiac stroke, leaving her paralyzed on the left side of her body. She has been bedridden for the past three years.
She has been unable to obtain the constant medical care and physiotherapy needed due to the excessive costs involved. The only source of income for her family is the job of her husband, who works for the Mumbai Police, which is used to pay for their sons’ college bills and the bare human necessities. On her part, she is upset because she is unable to help relieve her family’s stress in any way. She lies there wistfully thinking of the days she cooked and knitted for those around her.
In the last three years, she has led a difficult and painful life in their one room apartment dependent on her husband and sons to feed her, bathe her and take care of her. Her family has been very supportive and has done everything they can to help her, but are unable to get her the best medical care possible.
She has been seen by a leading neurophysician at one of the best multi-specialty Hospitals in Mumbai. This doctor has developed a revolutionary botox treatment that can cure her paralysis. A treatment plan and a budget has been developed, which is given below. We hope that the money can be raised soon (in a month) so that her treatment can begin without any delay. There is a small window where the botox treatment and physiotherapy will help Namrata regain her muscle functions.
This is an appeal to all of you generous souls out there to donate whatever you can to reach a goal of at least 10000 $. This will help pay for her to be admitted under a physician’s care in a multispecialty hospital where her diabetes and blood pressure will be managed and she can receive constant and progressive physiotherapy rehabilitation with botox treatment. Also built into the budget is the cost of tendon release surgery if required. Please help to lift up Namrata Shivalkar and enable her to be the person that she was.
