Medical Bills-Bart Markel
Many of you only know Bart Markel for all his Facebook post about AMA Flat track racing, his father's exploits on the track, as one of the sports best riders and member of the Hall of Fame, but Bart is also a husband, father and grandfather, who loves his family and dog very much. His family misses having him around every day and he misses them greatly.
Bart Markel was in a serious motorcycle accident near his home in Enterprise Alabama on December 8th. He was transferred to University of Alabama hospital in Birmingham the next day. He sustained several broken bones and some internal injuries. He also sustained some head trauma. Over the last month Bart has been recovering slowly, his bones are healing but he will not be able to put weight on his leg or even sit in a wheelchair for at least another two months.
As we all know, insurance companies don't always seem to want to pay out for catastrophic injuries like this. Susanne (Bart's wife) was told that he wasn't going to be able to stay in the hospital much longer and would have to be moved to a Skilled Care facility, but the insurance company won't pay for that. His Medicare, will cover part of the cost but only for 20 days, after that there will be a hefty co-pay required.
Bart needs to continue to receive the highest quality of medical care he can, to get this we all need to come together and help.
You can donate as little or as much as you can afford to do. This will be a long recover, taking several months or a year before he is up and "˜running' around, so you can give a little now and a little more each month as you can.
We appreciate anything that you can do, all the prayers and words of encouragement have helped tremendously, but now the family also needs the money to help the healing continue.
