Pancreatic Cancer Medical Trial

Stage 4 Cancer - the words everyone dreads to hear. Words that evoke a fear, because they are words of death. These are the words I heard 27 months ago. And with those words my world came crashing down around me.
Life changed for me, but in more ways for the good than the bad. I learned about friendship, I learned about family. I learned when the chips are down how people really come out of the woodwork and supported me. Not talking just about money, I am talking about the support in love, food, taking me places, and just making me feel a part that I have had the privilege of having while I work my way through this new life. Talking about how the Chive came into my like. Talking about the people who I attended school with so many years ago reconnecting and helping me find joy in small things. Talking about my church, how I really felt a part of the group being the receiver instead of the giver. Talking about family, seeing how we came together, even reconnecting with aunts and uncles, cousins and siblings. I am talking about life, and learning to enjoy each and every day because of people.

I have been on a roller coaster of emotions these 27 months. I have gone weeks unable to feed myself, and lost everything I once had, including my house. But I have never been hungry, never not been able to get to treatment, never not had gas in my truck. I have had a roof over my head the entire time, and I have never had to sleep in the cold. Why? Because of friendships I have formed over the years. Friendships that have withstood the test of this disease and we have come through it to the other side.
Well, tonight I put together a new request for help. Yes, this is a fiscal request. As many of you know, I have been involved in a medical trial for a new way to treat - and beat, pancreatic cancer. A new round is beginning on the 25th of March, and I once again need to ask my friends, my classmates, my shipmates, my family and anyone I can ask for your help to make this new round of medical trials happen again. I have waiting longer than normal trying to ensure I remained a candidate for this treatment, and officially everything is a go. So now I have to put together the trip and make it happen.
I have, as always, cut the expenses to the barest minimum that I can, but even so it is not cheap. I have obtained all the grant money I could, and have looked for ways to borrow, but with no job that is difficult. I turn to my friends and family and ask for their help. I know so many helped me over the past 27 months, and I am grateful. I already have a lot to repay, but I need to make this happen, and just maybe I will beat this and can start the repayments. I ask for your help in whatever way you can assist. I appreciate my church, my classmates, the Chivers, old shipmates, my family and my friends. I appreciate all that you have done and just ask that if you could, please take what I hope is one last chance so this can be over!
Thank you so much. Just knowing you are there for me, even if you cannot give, makes me want to keep fighting.
