YR Cancer Fundraiser

It was October of last year (2017) when we found out the terrifying news, our mother had just been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Since then, she has undergone the necessary surgeries including a mastectomy, removal of the Lymph nodes, and insertion of the chemo port. Yet every day has been a challenge and battle to even have gotten this far.

The day before she was to go into surgery for her chemo port her insurance denied her coverage for the surgery forcing her to wait until the New Year and the new insurance to take over, eluding to the insurance company not wanting to cover the cost. The insurance company then notified her that the procedures she has already endured were not going to be covered even after they had been approved. On top of copays, our parents are now looking at bill exceeding $20,000 for procedures that were once covered but then denied. She is still in dire need of chemo and we are praying that the new insurance will be more reasonable to deal with. This entire process has been a waiting game with constant cancellations an necessary stress for our parents. We just want our mother to have the best chance at healing and getting better without the worries of an insurance bureaucracy.

If you can contribute, every little bit helps. If you’re only able to share this page that itself brings a world of difference and a step closer to spreading prayers. I believe in miracles and I believe my mother is an angel on this earth and we need them right now to bring happiness, love, and light into a world constantly fighting darkness. Yolanda is a mother of 4 with 3 grandchildren and one on the way and an active member of her church for over 20 years. She is the heart and soul of her family. She has been married to her husband for over 30 years and still laughs at all his jokes. Her and her husband love to volunteer to entertain at convalescent homes and dialysis centers. Her favorite celebrity is Ellen DeGeneres. She loves romantic comedies and seeing musicals. She has trouble saying “helicopter” and “Figueroa” properly and loves to laugh about it every time she tries.
