Help Sonya Reichenbach fight Cancer!

Sonya, one of my staff members and friend for 30 years, has laryngeal (voicebox) cancer.  It was hard for Sonya to admit this. Yes, she was a smoker. Yes, she tried kicking the habit, but it never happened no matter how hard she tried.  Life has been hard and it's been her crutch. Now, she has to suffer the consequences. She knows she is in the fight of her life.

She has been blessed by her family and two daughters for whom she has lots to live for, especially Sadie's dance and school future as well as Ariel's upcoming wedding. She is also blessed by the dance world who knows her because of her two girls, and the many children and adults in her life that have entrusted her to help their children learn acrobatics through dance during her 25 years as a faculty member at Robin Dawn Academy.  She knows the community around her will give her strength even when it is very tough. To each of you, she is grateful for everything you are doing for her and are willing to do for her.

Starting Monday, March 19 and for the next 2-3 months Sonya will be very limited in her ability to work which will cause great difficulty in paying her bills.  As a single mom, this is already difficult. Without health insurance, she is starting all of this on a wing and a prayer. Sonya has always been a very private person, but now she has to be very open.  Asking for financial help is difficult, but she will be forever grateful to anyone who can be of help to her. She is having to max out her credit cards to pay-as-she-goes for the many doctor appointments she has had so far.

She is just at the beginning of all of this and it is going to be hard.  It's one thing to hear of someone else going through something like this or read it in the paper, but now it is Sonya, someone we know and love and work with and who has taught so many of our children over the years.
