Sarah Stamper's Fight For Life

Donation protected
My name is Jennifer Collins.  I met Sarah last year when she worked at the North Lake Grill (N Lk Party Store) in Chelsea. Through snippets of conversations Sarah learned that I graduated with her brother, Ryan Stamper; and that her boyfriend, Kyle, worked with my mom. What a small world! Sarah graduated from Chelsea in 2011.

In December, Sarah fell, spraining her ankle. No one could've imagined the nightmare that was to follow.

Sarah was admitted to St. Joe's Hospital on January 1, 2018, due to complications from forming blood clots, which traveled to her heart and lungs. A week later she was transferred to the UofM Hospital, where she is currently fighting for her life.

This past Friday, Sarah went into cardiac arrest during a procedure to remove one of the blood clots. The procedure was unsuccessful and Sarah is in the ICU on an ECMO Machine to give her heart and lungs rest. The doctors say that age is on her side, as she is only 24 years old, but her situation is extremely serious. This is day 4 on the machine. The plan is to let Sarah rest and build up her strength, but the clots still need to be removed.  There has been talk of possible open heart surgery.

Her boyfriend of 4 years, Kyle Sater, (graduated from Chelsea 2007), has been by her side every step of the way, along with many family members who make sure that Sarah is never alone.

How You Can Help
Kyle has been with Sarah, where he needs to be, which means a double-loss of income. Please consider donating what you can to help Kyle pay for he and Sarah's typical monthly expenses. They are nearing a month of not having regular income with no end in sight.  On top of housing/utility expenses is gas back and forth to the hospital and meals on the go or at the hospital (none of which are cheap). The medical expenses are unknown still, but even with insurance, I imagine the numbers will be staggering.
To get a jumpstart, our goal is to raise $6,000 as soon as possible to help alleviate the immediate financial burden & to be ready for when those first bills come in.  Funds raised will go directly to Kyle to spend as needed.
Sarah always greeted me with a smile and "Good morning, Sunshine!" or "Hey Sunshine..." I could often hear her singing away while she was working, without a care of who heard her--just enjoying life.  She would give me movie reviews- let me know what I "had" to see, (Beauty and the Beast and Fantastic Beasts immediately come to mind. ) She let me share in her joy of her boyfriend's new niece and her excitement over a tutu she'd ordered.

Sarah's beautiful heart left a mark on mine & I know that I'm not the only one she has touched. My hope & prayer is that Sarah's friends, family, co-workers and our community will rally behind her and Kyle to raise money needed for the medical expenses that are unknown, but adding up, and for the daily/monthly life expenses that are going unmet right now.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Sarah's story and for considering donating to help this young couple. If you have a story of how Sarah has touched your life, please share--I know her family would love to hear it.
