Ryan Kerr Kidney campaign - UPDATE

Donation protected
IMPORTANT UPDATE - July 31, 2019

Hello Family, Friends, and Supporters:

First let us thank God for His mercies. We have a praise report, after a long journey of 3 years and 1 month of waiting for a kidney for my son, we are thrilled to share the news that Ryan has received his kidney!  These past 3 years came with numerous challenges. There was a total of 4 live donors who were a very close match but unfortunately, they were not accepted for transplant.  Ryan also underwent 12 surgeries during this journey.

He is adjusting well to the new kidney. Now that he has achieved this very important milestone, he is now faced with the next step of the journey of recovery. Over the next six months Ryan will be making several follow-up visits with the transplant team at Penn Medicine Hospital, and his personal physicians.

We want to sincerely thank each one of you for your prayers and the generous donations you have contributed during his journey. With the help of caring and love people such as yourself, your contributions played a vital role in affording him to meet his deductibles for medication, unforeseen surgeries, and doctor visits and helped to keep a roof over his family’s head.

Recovery time is accompanied with numerous out of pocket deductible expenses of approximately 25% of the comprehensive cost of this very expensive surgery.  We fully understand that it is a lot to ask but we sincerely need your continued support to assist with impending bills until he can work again. Whatever you can contribute will be greatly appreciated at this time.  We will continue to provide you with updates of his recovery journey from time to time.

God Bless!

ORIGINAL:
In May 2016, life as we knew it suddenly took a detour for 36 year old Ryan Kerr and his family. With his 8-month pregnant wife and 6 year old daughter he developed symptoms of fatigue, poor appetite and weight loss. A visit to his doctor prompted lab studies which were severely abnormal. Within 24 hours he was hospitalized for blood transfusions, volumes of blood tests, a kidney biopsy and kidney dialysis (which he now has to continue for 4 hours each session, 3 days a week). The options for survival are: (1) Continue lifelong dialysis weekly, taking 9 medications, and avoiding 80% of his typical diet to prevent further damage. (2)  Receive a kidney transplant. This would eliminate the need for dialysis and give him some of his life back. (3) Pray and believe for total healing.  Most readers recognize that the man in this story is Ryan Kerr (who just so happens to be one of the nicest, most supportive, trustworthy and amicable people you'll ever encounter).  What's most important, he's a believer in the power of God. For those of you, who believe in the power of prayer and divine healing, please remember Ryan and his family in your prayers.  In the meantime we need to rally around this our son/brother/friend/family and be prepared to fight with him.

Ryan Kerr is the oldest of two sons who has currently lost total functionality of both his kidneys and is solely dependent on dialysis to filter his blood to rid his body of harmful waste. Not to mention the strict diet that he has to follow and the numerous medications he has to take every day.

This campaign is intended to raise funds to help meet the cost of the impending high medical and personal bills that he will be incurring due to this extraordinary an very unusual circumstances.  With your generosity and willingness to contribute, we can fight for the survival of Ryan, his wife and the two precious girls.  We are asking that you find it in your heart to donate to this worthy and important cause today.

God bless you.
