Hello friends and family!
My name is Raquel Hamm and I am a junior this year at Biola University with plans to graduate in Spring 2019. I study Christian Ministries and I work on campus as a Peer Academic Advisor, helping students to strive academically, whether that be assisting with class schedules or general questions they might have about being a college student. As a leader on campus, I am also a FirstGen Mentor for the FirstGen Scholars Program (students who are the first in their family to attend college), where I meet with two mentees (also FirstGen students) once every week to help them navigate through their first year at Biola. I work at least 10 hours a week with a 15 unit class load and the next three semesters I will be taking a full load of 18 units to graduate on time. I have been granted a few scholarships which have been applied towards this year’s tuition expenses. These scholarships have been such a blessing, however, still did not close the rest of my financial gap.
My spring current balance is $3,013. I have to pay $1,591.50 (3 payment plan + $85 fee) by December 15th, which is in three weeks. Sadly, I have no idea how I will be able to pay off my balance. I am still planning on saving the money that I earn from my job, but realistically I cannot come up with the full down payment by December 15th, 2017. I have reached out to other departments (i.e. Financial Aid Office), even the Christian Ministries department and applying for outside scholarships as well. I have exhausted every financial resource available at Biola. I am currently looking to apply for a second job so that I can continue to save towards my spring semester expenses. God has reassured me that Biola is where He wants me and I appreciate Biola for blessing me with the opportunity to still be here thus far with other scholarships in the past. I would love to continue the plan that God has laid out for me at Biola. So in order for me to stay, I could really use your help! I am asking that I can be assisted in receiving some sort of financial support during this difficult time.
