Help Heal Milo's Heart

Donation protected
Milo has been diagnosed with an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), commonly known as a heart murmur, in the wall between the top two chambers of his heart. While not an emergency, the hole will not close on its own, and if undealt with, the long-term effects would be serious, even potentially life-threatening.

The November 2nd, 2017 catheterization procedure was unsuccessful (ok yes, we are bummed), but onward.

Milo is scheduled for surgery November 22, 2017 at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto. He will be in the hospital approximately five days, then home recovering (i.e. no school) for about six weeks. We hope and plan that he'll return after the winter break. Come on 2018!

During Milo's recovery we certainly will be reaching out to everyone who offered us food, or babysitting, or a shoulder to cry on, and taking advantage of all those offers.  A couple things are for sure: We're feeling overwhelmingly lucky and blessed to have the most amazing friends and family.  Another is we live in the right place for this surgery and Milo will most likely be just fine - even better, if such a thing can be possible - once this is all over.

We've increased our goal for this campaign slightly to account for the surgery, but not much, because we're hitting that out-of-pocket maximum this year, baby!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for whatever help you are able and willing to give us.  We love you!
