Mary Jo's Hospital & Rehab Fund

As many of you know, my mom- Mary Jo Nohner, has been battling Multiple Sclerosis for many years. MS does not have a cure, and is typically a disease that continues to degrade and limit her ability to care for herself as the years go on. Multiple Sclerosis Info 

Mary Jo recently had a flare-up of her symptoms that sapped her strength and resulted in her falling at home. The paramedics scooped her up, and brought her to Fairview Lakes in Wyoming, MN. She was in the ICU for a few days to run tests to try to figure out what was going on, to clear up some bowel problems, and start to come up with a plan for her recovery.

After the hospital, Mary Jo was sent to a transitional care unit to continue her physical and occupational therapy. She has PT and OT multiple times per day, and has a great care team supporting her efforts to return home. The goal has always been for her to regain her strength so that she can transfer herself from her wheelchair to bed and back again. 

While the rehab has been helpful, the doctors and nursing staff have concluded that this is likely a worsening of the MS, and that Mary Jo will not be able to return to her previous level of independence. To be able to live at home, there will have to be changes in her environment and the addition of adaptive equipment to help her transfer and continue her activities of daily living.

This fund will be used to help pay for medical bills, as well as to purchase and install equipment that she needs such as a sliding board for transfers, a portable commode, a fold-down bedside railing, and additional grips and bars around the house. At this point, no one is sure how expensive this will become, but this page will be updated as we get more information.

Both Mary Jo and my dad Greg are retired and on fixed incomes, so anything will help!
