Help Lee Keep Walking

Donation protected
Back January 2017, Lee lost the ability to move some of her left toes.  Many, many visits to many, many doctors gradually began to reveal multiple degenerative spinal and bone disorders. In April 2017, a spinal surgeon told her that if she did not have surgery within six months, she could lose the ability to walk.  But in Lee’s case  surgery is not possible because of the bone disorder (basically her spine is too weak to have spine surgery).   It's a seemingly impossible diagnosis. The metabolic bone specialists said it's "impossible" to reverse bone break-down.  Even the top surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery said Lee is “between a rock and a hard place."

There is Always Hope

But one thing that Lee’s years of chanting and spiritual practice have taught her is: nothing is impossible. And that the mind, body and spirit are intrinsically linked.  Determined to explore options beyond the rock and the hard place of western medicine, Lee found a number of holistic, alternative practitioners who were/are willing and able to offer healing and hope.  She has spent the past year consulting with Tibetan doctors, medical intuitives, anthroposophic specialists, sound healers, yogis and Rinpoches. She visited countless chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, osteopaths, faith healers, etc.  She rented experimental medical devices.  None of these devices or consultations were/are covered by Lee’s insurance plan, so over the process, she spent all of her savings.  All of it.  She also was not able to work much in the past year--due to  limited mobility and inability to travel for music--so her income for 2017 was minimal.

Was draining her savings account worth it?  Oh, yes!  A recent Dexascan (March 2018) shows that Lee's bone density has started to increase--something the metabolic bone specialist assured her was "impossible."

She is still not a candidate for spine surgury, but if she can get her bones back up to a certain density, surgery will be an option.  Won't you help us help Lee reach this goal?

Most of the proceeds  of this GoFundMe will help Lee purchase a revolutionary European medical device that enhances circulation and the body's ability to rebuild and recover.  When she could afford it, Lee was able to rent one of these devices for a month and she definitey saw good results.  It’s quite possible that with daily long-term use of this device, Lee will be able to get her bone health back to a point where she can qualify for the surgery that will help her retain the use of her legs.  We are seeking funds for the purchase of this health-supporting device.

Additional funds will help cover expenses for the other very effective modalities Lee has been using to rebuild her skeleton:

- Tibetan Medicine
-Anthroposophic Medicine
- chiropractic visits (3x week!)
- nutrititional supplements
- CBD oil (monthly)
- acupuncture
- Physical therapy
- etc

Additional funds will also help Lee with the "stuff of life" that she is no longer about to do on her own. For instance, every time she needs to carry something to or from her car, she has to hire an assistant.  That really adds up.  There are also cost-of-living expenses that are adding up as Lee is unable to physically work.  In three months, unless she generates some significant income, she will likely have to move out of her rental house.  Your support could literally help her keep her home.

There are other "wish list" expenses beyond the scope of this campaign (meaning above and beyond the $15K goal), such as:
- Treatment at a Korean spine clinic ($7K)
- Treatment at an anthroposophic clinic in US ($5K)
- Spinal tuning forks ($300)
- Bone resonated ($1K)
- vibrating platform ($3K)
- visit to John of God in Brazil (?K)

As I am managing the details, the funds are transfered to me, Lily, and then passed in their entirety to Lee to use for her medical care, for continued treatments and doctor's visits.

The Spirit of Caring
Lee is a beloved member of the yoga/meditation/kirtan/sound healing/Buddhist/animal rescue communities.

Lee is a very kind and gentle soul, deeply committed to her spiritual path, and is hesitant about asking for help. We, her friends, have organized this campaign on her behalf, to show her our love and faith in her healing process.

What is beautiful about Go Fund Me is the opportunity for many people to make a small donation, and together change lives. This is the nature of Lee's kirtan music, which she always insists is not a “performance,” but a communal experience of people singing together for the benefit of all beings. With each of our voices raised together, we can make sacred music, and we can heal ourselves. And each other.

GIVING BACK:
Lee--a talented writer (published by Random House)--has been taking diligent notes during this healing journey and aspires to write a book about this some day. The main focuse of the book would be how to heal osteoporosis and other "bone-wasting" disorders WITHOUT western medicine.  She has vowed to heal herself so that she can show others it is possible to heal.  All glories to Bhagavan Medicine Buddha.

Please share what you can, so that Lee can continue to grace the world with her gifts: her beautiful voice and music.  We thank you, and wish you every blessing.
