Help Lee Battle Lymphoma

Donation protected
My brother, Lee Mauer, has been experiencing excruciating pain and discomfort since December that progressively worsened over time despite seeking medical treatment.  His leg swelled to nearly twice its original size; he had two surgeries for one problem but found that it wasn't the root cause; he was in and out of the ER multiple times with no answers; and he was admitted to the hospital on February 22nd with renal failure.  After drawing blood for testing, the doctors told him that they didn't have any good news except that he was there (in the hospital where he could receive treatment).  His body wasn’t producing blood like it should, his platelets were tear-shaped instead of round, and his hemoglobin numbers were extremely low.  He had days of test after test while undergoing dialysis to try to get his kidneys working again.

On February 26th, Lee was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL).  They immediately began a chemo regimen to fight the lymphoma while continuing dialysis to regain kidney function.  On March 2nd, another biopsy confirmed that the cancer has entered his bone marrow.  Thankfully, on March 3rd, his kidney function returned (hallelujah!) and he lost 28 pounds of fluid.

This is a roller-coaster of setbacks and improvements, but we are in it for the long haul.  Our God is a mighty God, and we have faith that Lee can beat this.

With that said, there is an extensive financial burden that Lee's family will be carrying in order to fight this battle (on top of basic living expenses for his family), but they have had to take unpaid leave from work to focus on his treatment.  He has only just begun this journey, and has been hospitalized since February 22nd with multiple CT/MRI scans, blood tests, dialysis, blood transfusions, chemo, a nurse assigned to him 24/7, etc.  Chemo will continue for several months, and afterward, he will begin physical therapy for 6 months or more to regain strength and functionality.  We pray that his family, friends, and community might be able to help relieve even a portion of this burden.  Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and assistance in this difficult time.
