Help Kristen Kiss TBI Goodbye

On June 1, 2016, Kristen's car was hit at full speed by a teenager using a mobile phone who ran a red light. She soon found out the accident had done major damage, leaving her with six concussions that led to a diagnosis of Traumatic Brain Injury and Post-Concussive Syndrome, along with a host of other secondary issues caused by the TBI.

At the time of the accident, Kristen's three kids were a five-month-old, a three-year-old, and an eight-year-old. She doesn't remember much of the baby's first year due to memory loss issues, but she's determined to get better for them and not miss any more memories.

TBI is costly, as many of the tests and treatments are not well-covered by insurance, and Kristen has only been able to be at work for six weeks since October 2016. In April 2017, the disability insurance carrier denied the renewal on Kristen's coverage, leaving her and her family without a paycheck or the means to pay for any additional therapies until the appeal process runs its course.

With three small kids, Kristen has been searching for a treatment that would have the possibility to make the most impact in the shortest period of time. She's found a ten-day inpatient program that's like a bootcamp for TBI patients and brings together into one program several protocols various current doctors of Kristen's have already mentioned, plus some extras which have promise and research behind them, like hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Obviously, with no income coming in right now, this treatment would have to be a "maybe sometime in the future" option...but maybe not. Some of Kristen's friends said they'd support a campaign like this to get her to the program, and so here we are...
