John At WWU in Germany!

Donation protected
Our son, John, has been selected by Ball State University's Department of Modern Languages and Classics to attend Westfalische Wilhelms-University of Muenster in Germany for his Senior Year of college! What an honor ~ we are so proud of him. Our goal for this fundraiser is to help John achieve his dream of studying German WHILE LIVING IN Germany! The fundraising goal total is a little below the estimated cost for attending the University and living in Germany (August 2014 - July 2015!) ~ we hope you will help add to the $5000 that we have saved (mostly Cris, but John and I have a bit saved up too!), and that John has earned in two scholarships from Ball State University's Department of Modern Languages and Classics. You can contribute once, or once a month, or however often you want ~ whatever you are comfortable with! 10 months is a long time away from home and family, support system, and friends, so we hope and pray you will consider ongoing support! We SO appreciate your help! All donations GO DIRECTLY INTO JOHN's bank account so rest assued your money will REALLY help him while he is in Germany! ANY donation amount is welcome!

John intends to follow up with "thank yous" in the form of photo collections/calendars, he'll happily wear your corporate logo t-shirts while in Germany (get them to us before August 2014!! Shirt size Medium!), and I am offering "artwork thank yous" as well for specific donation levels. (For those of you who do not know me, I am John's mom, and I am an artist/photographer, member of the Hamilton County Artists' Association.) I have set up some "Quick Donation" options for you to choose from, but of course, any amount is greatly appreciated!

A little about John: he is a BSU Dean's List student, and a German major with a minor in International Studies. He's a hard worker, maintaining good grades whilst always working part-time while in college. John will also have a job in the University Library while studying in Muenster. The University of Muenster in Germany is a fantastic school, presitigious in academics, and Muenster is at the forefront of "green" initiatives. It is the perfect setting for John to continue his studies as a German language major with interests in International Studies and Philosophy. John's future plans are to pursue Master's/PhD degrees in Graduate School (who knows: maybe in Germany!), and his career options after this incredible study-abroad experience will be unlimited!

Friends, you are AWESOME! Your support and encouragement and understanding mean the world to us! Most of you know the challenges our family has faced over the years; our children's ability to rise above them and pursue "impossible dreams" inspires me every day! Cris' stalwart efforts to provide stability and safety for us ~ well, words fail me. He's been there for us for 20 years. He was right by my side when John had heart surgery at age 15, he was right by our side through all the nightmares we endured ~ he's somehow managed to hold us all together!
