Help John Brown's recovery.

My good friend and past coworker, John Brown, was struck by a speeding pickup, out doing a recovery on the Malakwa 500 tonight, at about 5pm. John is the Sicamous area tow truck operator for Eagle Rock Towing. He was out for BCAA, to recover a small pickup, when he was struck by a full sized pickup, estimated to be doing 120 km/h on bad roads in a 100 km/h zone. The local RCMP constable was just turning around to come "block" for John, when he witnessed the accident.
John's truck was written off, with the deck being pushed into the cab. He was outside the truck sorting out equipment for the recovery and remembers nothing. This is the same deck I ran (with updated truck) and the same stretch of road that I cut my towing teeth on, years ago.
The pickup that struck him was from Alberta and was a couple with 2 young children. The driver is in critical condition, but the other 3 are doing well. Out of all of the parties involved, John took the worst of it. I just spent an hour with him, last night at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, before he got loaded up for transfer to ICU in Kelowna.
Luckily the RCMP were already there, or any further delay on an ambulance, could have resulted in a worse outcome. Those that know John, know that he is a force of nature, that will keep ticking, when anyone "normal person" would just roll over and expire.
John has several broken bones, internal bleeding in a few places including a kidney and possible vertebrae damage. His neck and head were unscathed, but he spent nearly an hour laying in the wet snow, while the EMT's attended to the other driver.
John was just recently married and his new bride Venus, is very concerned, visibly upset and likely feeling entirely helpless, half a world away, in the Philippines. Please keep John in your thoughts, as many of us take things for granted this Christmas.
John, true to form is worried about getting back to work, to pay his day to day expenses and especially the cost of his wedding in the Philippines. Those of us that care about John, want him to focus all his strength on his recovery, not on bills. Maybe some kind-hearted people could assist with his financial worries here.
Please also help spread the word and support the rest of us, in the towing and recovery industry that are demanding changes and actual meaningful enforcement to the current "SDMO" (Slow Down, Move Over) Laws that are intended to protect those of us that call the road our workplace and run flashing lights in a futile effort to secure a reasonable amount of room and safety, to do our thankless work.
