Jake's Mission Trip to Greece

As my senior year begins to wrap up here at Harding University I have been prayerfully considering where God is leading me after graduation. Lord willing I will be graduating with a degree in Leadership and Ministry and Computer Science. Over the past couple summers I have had the opportunity to work with a church as a youth/worship intern. The summer of 2014 I worked with the One Hope Church in Midland Texas, the summer of 2015 I worked again with One Hope. God has placed missions on my heart and on the hearts of many of my friends. This coming spring break God has opened up a door for me be a part Harding’s spring break mission trip to Honduras. As I look into pursuing a life of cross-cultural mission work I am excited about the opportunity to learn how to be a leader in a short term mission trip in another culture.

This short term mission is just a stepping stone to prepare for what long term mission would look like for my team and I. 

In preperation for long term missions a group of us have come together to do a 10 week mission trip to Athens, Greece. I see this opprotunity as a huge leap to learning what it takes for long term missions. We will be working with over 7 different cultures consisting of multiple different religious backgrounds and working alongside a team of well trained individuals who have been working in Athens for years.

We will be working along side Eastern European Missions to provide, food, bibles, showers, laundry services and any help we can in Athens. Your encouragement and support is critical in helping me serve through this mission trip. First, please pray for me. Pray that God will get me there. Please pray that He will give me a heart of compassion and service. I know there is a lot to be learned and I want to soak up as much as possible through this experience.

Secondly, our team has been given a fundraising goal of $5,000 each. This amount needs to be raised by March 2018. This goal covers funds for the flight to Athens, housing for 10 weeks and covers living expenses for the full 10 weeks. I am working as much as I can so that I can also contribute to this goal amount, but I will also need some other people to help me reach this goal. My hope is that you will be my partner in this venture and enable me to show the love of Jesus to these people.
