Help Houston! Eat Baklava!

Tax deductible
Over the past several days, Hurricane Harvey has changed the way we live. People saw their homes flood and their life's belongings go to waste. I never thought I would witness this level of devastation in any U.S. city let alone Houston, the city I call home.

One week later, major highways are still shut down and Houstonians (including personal friends of mine) are still unable to return home due to flooded streets. Houston's road to recovery is going to be a long one.

While my city is #HoustonStrong , we need your help!

Join me in raising funds for the city of Houston's relief and recovery fund - established by Mayor Sylvester Turner.  The fund is being housed by the Greater Houston Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, which is where all donations to this campaign will go.

All donations - big or small - are appreciated, but as an incentive for making a donation of $40 or more, I will be baking and shipping* Texas Baklava in a Jar  to donors as follows:

$40 Donation - One Texas Baklava in a Jar
$70 Donation - Two Texas Baklava in a Jar
$100 Donation - Four Texas Baklava in a Jar

What is Texas Baklava in a Jar?
It's the familiar Greek pastry made with Texas pecans and honey baked in a half-pint mason jar. You'll have the option of classic or chocolate and can enjoy it as is or warm it up and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a Baklava sundae. In case you haven't figured it out already, this is a Sophaki Cooks concept developed by yours truly.

Questions? Comments? I would love to hear them! Send me an e-mail at [email redacted],

*Baklava Shipment Notes: This campaign will close on Sunday, September 10 at 5:00 pm CST. Donors will be contacted via e-mail within 48 hours to provide a U.S. mailing address and make a flavor selection (classic or chocolate). Donors must respond with their selections within seven days of e-mail receipt. Unfortunately, I will  be unable to ship outside the U.S. at this time.
