Help Grace Travel to Ireland

Born one month early, Grace has never slowed down! Grace Lowder was never seen on four ultrasounds-apparently content in hiding behind her twin, Abe.  She was only discovered one week before she was born.
Abe and Grace were born into the loving family of Amy Butler and adoped into the blessed family of Ann and Jay Lowder in Missoula, Montana.

Grace was always the nurturing person she is today. Even as a one year old, she would take Abe's blankets and toys and check to see if his diaper was dirty.  Her need to serve and excel has been shown year after year, as she attemped and succeeded at many ventures.

When in Super Skippers at the age of five and six, she decided to jump rope 1,000 times a day.  She would often ask the Paraprofessional on playground duty to count..., and she would!  Her teachers have always loved and appreciated her leadership capabilities.  She was President of her Student Council and received the prestigious Leadership Award as an 8th grader.  Her principal, who was very pregnant at the time, announced the honor at graduation, saying she never worried about going into labor, because Grace could run the school in her absence.

Always one to try new things, Grace has participated in Church Youth Group, Daisy Scouts, fencing, soccer, softball, swimming, 4H raising hogs (And coming in Reserve Champion as an 11 year old!), and five years of piano, basketball, rugby, and volleyball.  Volleyball has become the passion of her life and she is playing on the Elite Team for the Missoula Volleyball Association.

Her tender spirit is shown in how she has always spent hours playing with her younger sister, Jane.  Our home is a quiet one when Grace is away.  She brings laughter, singing, and happy music.

Tragedy has recently come into our lives, as Abe died in a car accident January 7th, 2016 on the way home from Youth Group.  Grace was in the ICU with a punctured lung, broken back and ribs, but most of all..., a broken heart.  We have been comforted in knowing Abe has saved many lives with the donation of his organs, but our family is left mourning the loss of a truly joyful and loving person.

Grace has bravely taken each day and finds solace in spending time with Abe's friends.  She pours herself into her Exceptionalities Class, where she has been assigned to a younger man with Down Syndrome.  She has been on the honor roll for all of high school and has received many awards for her excellence in sports.

Grace is a beautiful person who shows the world strength and courage in the face of adversity.  She is the type of person that is curious and hard working.  We are very excited that she has the opportunity to go to Ireland with the Irish Life Experience -a four week high school summer study abroad program.  She has gone through so much this year.  While she is extremely resilient, this opportunity is exactly what she needs.  This incredible journey coudn't come at a better time and will change her life forever!

Thank you for all of your help to make this possible for her.  Every little bit helps.
