Help for the Solis Family

Donation protected
If you know David, you love David. He has probably served you, cared for you, checked your sore throat, sprained hand, or encouraged you to turn to the Lord for the answers to your broken heart. And if you know him, he has prayed for you. If you have heard him pray for you… especially in Spanish… you have been touched by the very hand of God. David Solis has spent his life caring for everyone around him. Offering all he has to give… money, time, talents, and always… prayers. He travel to jungles, violent cities, or simply answers a call in the middle of the night here in the suburbs of Denver… it doesn’t matter because he lives his life to love God and love the people God puts in his life.

Now it is our turn. David & his dear family need our help. David is sick. Very, very sick. It came out of nowhere and it came hard. David was getting ready to lead a mission trip in his home town of Merida, Mexico when he experienced serious stomach pain. After some preliminary tests in Mexico he was told he had a tumor in his stomach. July 9th, he and Karen flew back immediately and went straight to Littleton Hospital ER, where 3 hours later he was told he had cancer. Two days later on July 11, they received the devastating news that David has Gastric Cancer,  Adeno Carcinoma, Stage 4.   For the full story & updates from Karen, go to:
Solis Caring Bridge Page (click here)

The statistics aren’t great. “They” say 4% of people with this diagnosis live 5 years. But someone makes up that 4%, right? And God isn't a "they". God is the Creator, the Healer, Abba Father, the Great Physican. We are praying that David is the 4%... and more. Please join us in that prayer!

There are crazy expenses as you can imagine. David works three jobs and has done that since we have known him... we have been in a Life Group with them for over 25 years. Karen works part time making deliveries for a restaurant, while still taking care of their youngest two children who are still in the home. They are a humble, frugal family (OK.. David has a thing for tennis shoes. Karen grins & bears it. But other than that.) They are blessed with 5 amazing children, 2 strong & Godly sons-in-law, and 2 busy, healthy, full of life grandsons. And another sweet boy due in September.

Their life has come to a screeching halt
as David is hospitalized and there has been one complication after another. Honestly, at this point, he is fighting for his life.  Not sure if you have ever had an experience like this, or even lost someone you love. But when it happens, it seems shocking that life continues on the outside of your breaking heart.    The mortgage continues, food needs to be put on the table, doctor bills roll in, birds sing. It doesn’t make sense. How can it be.

We are asking for you to please consider donating to a fund for the Solis Family.  We approached our dear friends and asked if we could raise money to help ease their burden.  So hard for them to be on the receiving end, but we  reminded them the blessing of giving, especially to someone who has given so much to others. We have no idea how much will be needed… we know that between medical bills and covering lost income from David’s second and third jobs, the family is in immediate need. (David was the victim of identity theft about 10 years ago, taking almost all they had financially & any reserves.) A donation is easy right here on this page.

Please contact me with any questions you have. Other than a financial donation, here are other ways you can help:

1.     We have a meal train, which can include gift cards if you are far away but want to help. Solis Meal Train

2.     If you have extra airline miles you could donate to help bring Davey back every 2-3 weeks as he has to leave for his Freshman year of College in Tennessee. (He is going against his heart’s desire to stay - at his Father’s insistence…  David is so stubborn. I failed to mention that not-so-endearing quality!)

3.     You can forward this GoFundMePage to as many people as you can think of.  Please share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or copy and paste it, https://www.gofundme.com/help-for-the-solis-family , and email it. If you know the family, share that when you share it. This is the best way to increase support. (If you need help with that just let me know and I can do it for you or walk you through it!)   It is our chance to “love it forward”, this time to David.

4.     Write comments or prayers on this GoFundMe page for the family…. Karen reads everyone’s comments to David & it is such an encouragement to them.

5.     PRAY.
*David & Karen... for peace, strength, healing, & as God leads you.
*Kristine & Josh & the kids, & protection for her pregnancy and baby boy coming in September.
*Shannon & Drew, with such tender and compassionate hearts.
*Lisa, who pushes herself to be strong for others... she sleeps with her Mom so she is not alone with David in the hospital.
*Davey, especially as he has to leave at such a difficult time.
*Sweet Katie, the baby of the family as she starts her Senior year at Columbine High School but just wants to stay home and take care of her Daddy.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider supporting and sharing the effort!
