Donna Lee's Medical Fund

Welcome, thank you for visiting our page. Almost two years ago, my Aunt Donna was diagnosed with a serious brain tumor nestled in the center of her brain, attached to the pituitary gland between her optic nerves. The tumor caused a severe onset of personality change, long and short-term memory loss and severe psychosis, effecting essentially every part of her being. During this time she has been unable to work and has had to pay numerous bills and medical expenses just to stay afloat.

The medical endeavor began with an initial surgery to drain a large cyst associated with the tumor that would relieve extreme pressure on the brain which was part of the reason for her intense psychosis. At this time they also located 4 aneurisms in her brain and subsequently performed a second surgery to remedy them. After healing enough from the second surgery, a third surgery was performed to remove the tumor.

During this very intensive brain surgery, doctors removed what they thought was all of the tumor. Despite extreme health problems, years of recovery time and life-long repercussions from this tumor and surgery, she was expected to make a recovery with no radiation needed. Even as she battles with persistent and constant health issues from these surgeries, things have been looking up in recent weeks in comparison to the past.

However just recently on her road to recovery, an MRI for a routine check-up showed growth in a tumor in the same spot. In just 6 months an MRI went from showing nothing to exhibiting growth. With the tumor being in such a vulnerable area, effecting the function of her entire body as it pushes on all parts of the brain, it has been decided that radiation will now be needed every day for a 5 week period, at a hospital over an hour away from Donna's home. This radiation could be especially devastating as the tumor resides between her optic nerves and has a high potential for effecting her vision, to what extent we will not know until the radiation is received.

This new set back will bring upon a large financial burden that we simply do not have means to take care of. There will be high medical bills and a need for her to stay somewhere close to the hospital during this time as well. Her health will fall into yet another downward spiral as they treat the tumor and she will need even more medications and care, not to mention financial support as she recovers in the long-term.

Our family has done everything we can to help support her since the diagnosis, but our funds are being depleted and now it's time to reach out to our family, friends and community in hopes we can help continue to keep Donna safe and healthy. After this round of radiation, we are not sure how we will be able to keep a roof over her head and food on her table, not to mention paying for the medications she will need to stay maintained and healthy on her road to recovery and for the rest of her life.

Any size donation is of course welcomed and we hope that we can really help make some positive changes in her life. Thank you for visiting our page, please share this with anyone you can. Every little bit counts and when it has to do with someones life, every share matters. Thank you!
