Help Conor Tarpley & His Family

This is Conor Tarpley, born at 27 weeks on Thursday, July 13, 2017 to our son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Keriann Tarpley. His early arrival was triggered by life-threatening medical issues faced by Keri and the hospital decided they had no choice but to deliver immediately.
Amazingly, Conor, although born 1.43 lbs., is relatively stable, and Keri is recovering well. That said, this young family needs our help. The baby - who has a very long way to go - is currently in Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C., a nearly three-hour drive for the family.
According to the March of Dimes, the average cost of medical care for a premature or low-birth weight baby for its first year of life is about $49,000.
While some medical expenses are covered by insurance, there are so many expenses that are not. The family must pay out of pocket for things such as medical supplies; gas and tolls and parking; eating on the road and more. This is quickly eating into any savings they have.
All this before Conor can even move home, months from now, when they will be faced with even greater, more crippling expenses.
Although Clay, a Coast Guard veteran, works, Keri is legally disabled from a previous injury and is home fulltime with Conor’s brother, Clay (age 3) and sister, Reese (age 2). Clay must return to work in which will make getting to see Conor even more challenging. It will be months before he can even be moved to our local hospital.
Asking for financial help is very difficult. That said, there’s no way our family can do this alone. That is why we are reaching out to our family and friends for help. No matter what you can donate, you will make a difference to this young family. They, and we, will be forever grateful.
