Achilles the Miracle Dog-needs Help!

Tax deductible
Hey Everyone! I am Achilles, they call me the miracle dog. I have survived a lot of obstacles in my short time on this earth but now I am facing my biggest one yet. I need all of your help, to get back on my feet.

Some of you might be asking why they call me the miracle dog!? Since birth I have had the odds stacked against me. At 7 months old I was in danger of being euthanized at a rural shelter in South Carolina.

A great rescue group called Operation Paws for Homes saved me and I found a forever home. Upon arrival to my mommy's vet, we discovered that I had multiple health concerns. It started with a little cough and before long, it turned into Pneumonia. On top of the Pneumonia, it was determined that I had Parvo. Parvo is a pretty scary illness and lots of puppies don't pull through the fight with it. Shortly thereafter, I started losing hair and was diagnosed with mange. I then started showing signs of something more severe and it was determined that I had Distemper. Distemper is a serious viral illness, with no known cure and the fatality rate is extremely high. After lots of medical attention and constant TLC from my mommy, I have been symptom free since January.

After I fully recovered from Distemper, I started to become a happy, playful, and excited puppy; but my Mommy noticed something was wrong with my leg. After a few x-rays, the vet determined that when I was a puppy, my leg was completely fractured. Sadly, whoever initially owned me never got me the medical attention I needed. Now that I am over a year old, I am not able to run and play like a young dog should. I have very limited mobility because I am unable to use my back leg. The vet's said I need surgery! They have been talking about an open reduction, internal fixation with a plate and screws. I don't know what all that means, all I know is that I need this surgery so I can run and play with the other puppies.

Even miracle dogs need help sometimes! Can you find it in your heart to help me? I promise to love you forever!

Wags and licks,
Achilles
