SAVE SHUNDA CREEK

Tax deductible
Our addiction treatment camp is in peril.

Shunda Creek - a 10-bed addiction treatment camp for men in Alberta, has been operating successfully for 13 years. With hundreds of clients treated, this wilderness therapy program has had a huge impact on the community. There are many men who have successfully found recovery from addiction and hundreds more who need treatment. And they need your help.

Without adequate funding, this precious program will be shut down in 2 months.

“One of the best ways you can change a community is by funding healing over incarceration, and prioritizing proper treatment for those who need it”. - Ben Goresky

The details:

Enviros - the non-profit that operates the Shunda Creek program - and Alberta Health Services share the funding and are willing to continue to do so, but the camp they have been using is no longer available. They have to buy a new camp. A new camp has been found (The Centre For Outdoor Education ), and the bank - skittish as they are at this time - will not loan the 900k needed to cover of the camp

We are raising 600k to cover the difference needed to keep this program open and purchase the new camp.

This is a one time ask. Make or break.

The government (and Enviros ) have the funding to operate the program, but the lump sum to buy the camp has not been allocated, so it’s up to us - the community - to keep it alive.

The value this program pays to our community cannot be overstated - it takes men out of the prison system, off the street, out of the shadows, and helps them find themselves in nature. These men go on to become valuable contributors to their communities. They become teachers, guides, and mentors for other men who need help.

Some of the graduates of the Shunda program are currently working as support workers in the program, actively giving back to the next generation of men who need guidance..

This cycle needs to continue, so we are asking for your help.

A new program for a new camp has already been designed, and the goal is to treat 12-18 clients at a time. Your support will help the Shunda program not only survive but add 50% or more to their capacity.

We are aiming for $600,000, one time only, and it’s All-Or-Nothing. Please give generously, and if we do not make our goal, your donation will be refunded.

Let’s give this our best shot!

Please share, and shout from the rooftops about this crucial opportunity to have a direct effect on a community, for those who need our help the most.

HI my name is Colton Rolof I've asking today for you to help me save the place that saved my life. Here's my story. I've struggled with addiction my whole life be it as small as candy to as big as heroin I always thought I'd never amount to anything was on the verge of being homeless and or dead until a friend had mentioned this place called shunda creek. I spent 93 days on site at shunda and was able to find my selfworth my meaning to be alive and most importantly a place I truly felt at home without the amazing support of the staff and my fellow recovering addics I wouldn't be able to say that in 2 short months I'm going to be a father, I would of never thought I'd be saying happy 1 year wedding anniversary to my wife on June 9th this program gave me the one thing we all take for granted back MY LIFE.
