Maggie's Medical Fund

Hi friends and family, I hope everyone is having a better holiday than we are. The picture above was taken last week. Maggie is our 6-year old black lab. She has a heart of gold and EVERYONE loves her, everyone. I’ve never known a dog like Maggie. A girl where people are telling you to leave town so they can watch her! A girl we have to rotate through our circle of friends so everyone gets their turn to practice their ball throwing skills. She is a special girl and has been with Zach since she was 7 weeks old.  But that picture is the last time that we saw Maggie as Maggie. She was her happy, smiling self as she pranced around Zach’s office on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday night we noticed that Maggie wasn’t herself. She didn’t have much energy, had no interest in playing fetch or wrestling with her little sister, Penny. We attributed her behavoir to a long few days and thought she must be tired. We noticed the next day that she was shaking and would occasionally whimper when we tried to pet her. We were able to calm her down, and let her rest but it continued to get worse. She snapped at Penny (which has never happened before) when Penny tried to lay next to her and snuggle (which is one of Maggie’s favorite things). Penny knew her sister wasn’t feeling well and left her alone.

On friday, we spent the day with her but she wasn’t interested in our normal games. She didn’t want to play ball and when she refused to go swimming in the pool, we booked an emergency appointment to the vet. The vet ran her blood work and noticed an elevated calcium level. Maggie had also lost 4 pounds since our last visit which happened to be a week ago. She recommend we take Maggie to the Emergency Vet and admit her for fluids and additional testing. Upon arrival the vet was very concerned. She could tell right away that Maggie could hardly sit up. She was extremely larthargic, her tail wasn’t wagging and she wasn’t wearing that million dollar smile.

This has been the worst Christmas gift. Not only are we missing our baby during the holiday but her future is uncertain. Tests reveiled hypercalcemia and vets are working to find the issue. She is schedlued for multiple ultrasounds today and further testing but unfortunately we have reached the end of our savings. With all of our cash tied up in wedding deposits, we are finacially tapped. I 100% hate asking for help in this way but please consider donating a dollar or two to our family.

Penny has been walking around the house looking for her sister and Zach and I can not imagine not giving everything we have to support her.

Currently we have spent $3,400 and it’s looking like another night or two in the hospital. After treatment, if there is any additional funding it will be donated to Nate’s Animal Rescue.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday! Thoughts and prayers appreciated ❤️

All our love,
Kelly & Zach
