<div>When we last updated everyone in November, Kit was fighting for his life in intensive care after suffering a catastrophic bleed to his lungs during what should have been a routine scan.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At that point, nobody knew if he would survive.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Somehow, because he’s Kit, he did.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the months that followed, he fought his way back from complications that nearly took his life. There were more hospital admissions, more procedures, more medications, more setbacks and more fear. But he kept going.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>And slowly, things started to look brighter.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He completed his stem cell transplant. He recovered from months in hospital. He worked his way through immunotherapy. Radiotherapy was booked to start on 6th July in Manchester.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For the first time since his diagnosis in May 2025, there was finally an end date.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After fourteen months of cancer treatment, the finish line was actually there.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>School in September.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Family days out.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Trips to the beach.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Christmas without chemotherapy.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The chance to finally begin building something that looked a little more like normal family life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Then everything changed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Just weeks before finishing treatment, Kit became increasingly unwell. He developed worsening pain, fluid around his lungs and symptoms that simply didn’t feel right.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Further investigations revealed every family’s worst nightmare.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kit’s cancer had returned before he had even completed frontline treatment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After everything he has already endured, the neuroblastoma is back.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Instead of preparing for radiotherapy and ringing the bell at the end of treatment, Kit was admitted back into Birmingham Children’s Hospital and started emergency relapse chemotherapy on 18th June.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The last few weeks have been incredibly difficult. He has suffered severe pain, a collapsed lung, chest drains, oxygen dependency, sickness, feeding difficulties and countless additional procedures. Watching him go through all of this again has been heartbreaking.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Nobody imagined we would be here.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Not now.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Not this close to the end.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The truth is that everyone believed July 2026 would mark the end of this chapter.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Instead, another one has begun.Despite everything, Kit continues to show the same courage that has carried him through every stage of this journey. He is still fighting every single day.
</div>

</div>
<div>Nikki remains by his side as she has done since day one, whilst also trying to balance life with Kit’s little sister Rue. Since Kit’s diagnosis, much of Rue’s young life has been spent without her mummy and brother at home, and she has largely been cared for by her nanny Judith while Nikki has lived between hospital wards and intensive care units fighting alongside Kit.

<div>Two-year-old Kit Lorenzo is a bright, cheeky, and loveable little boy whose world — and that of his parents, and grandparents — has just been turned upside down.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What began as severe constipation from when Kit was just six months old, with over 30 visits to Drs, paediatricians and A&amp;E has now led to a devastating diagnosis: stage 4, neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that has now spread.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>But what makes Kit’s story even more heart-breaking — and remarkable — is this: he is a miracle baby.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Just a few years ago, Nikki was fighting for her own life after being diagnosed in December 2020 with grade 3 breast cancer. An Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, DCIS, and high-grade ADH in both breasts — a complex and aggressive form of hormone-positive breast cancer.
</div>

</div>
<div>She underwent a double mastectomy but because the cancer wasn't able to be removed with 'clear margins' Nikki has since endured chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and ongoing hormone therapy to ensure that it doesn't return— a journey that continues to this day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Before starting treatment, doctors gave Nikki a narrow window to preserve her fertility and freeze embryos. After previous miscarriages and failed IVF’s, she was told she would not be able to continue her motherhood journey and to look into other options. That’s when Nikki met her Angel, Laquiesha, who Became Kit’s surrogate mother.

<div>From that moment of hope amidst chaos, Kit was born — a miracle from a single precious embryo, frozen before chemotherapy began. A living symbol of survival, resilience, and love.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, heartbreakingly, Kit faces a battle of his own. Nikki, and her family, her mum Jude, nanna to Kit, and friends are still in total shock and trauma around what has recently unfolded.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over recent months, Kit’s health took a worrying turn. His tummy pains worsened, he lost his appetite, and became increasingly lethargic and he cried more consistently with tummy pains.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Then on the first week of May he became suddenly very unwell. Nikki rushed him to nearby Coventry hospital. Eventually, after pushing for a scan an Xray was done and revealed a large tumour in his abdomen, pressing on his kidney.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After an ultra sound and CT scan further tests confirmed what no parent ever wants to hear: Kit has neuroblastoma stage 4 that has spread most likely arising from the adrenal gland. This is still a fairly rare type of cancer which usually only affects children under 5.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Kit has been referred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where he will begin an intensive treatment pathway — including chemotherapy, scans, and possible surgery much later down the line when the tumour has shrunk. It’s a long, uncertain road ahead. The Dr's have advised that the first phase of this intense treatment could span at least 1 year.

<div>Nikki is doing everything she can to stay strong for her son, but the emotional and financial toll needs to be planned for - and this is what this go fund page has been created for.
</div>

<div>Nikki will be at her son’s bedside 24/7 and we don’t know how her employer will navigate this. She is a single mother with no financial support.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For a family who has already faced more than their share of heartbreak, this is an unthinkable, devastating further blow. But they are holding on to hope — and asking for help. Nikki's mum is looking after Rue, Kit's younger sister, with the help of some close friends, but this arrangement is not always going to be workable.
</div>

</div>
<div>Every donation, no matter the size, will help ease the burden on Nikki , her mum, and the immediate family and give Kit the best chance of beating this.
