Help Stephanie #Fight4Farmers!

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Stephanie and my passion is bringing sustainable urban agriculture and food justice to the forefront of my community. I just received the greatest honor of being chosen to work as a Grassroots Intern for the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition in Washington, DC this summer.

My main role will revolve around the Farm Bill: helping keep farmers informed about developments with the Farm Bill and assisting in "Farmer Flyouts" -- responsible for ensuring that farmers get the opportunity to tell their story to their representatives. The Farm Bill is complex, but it is the primary source of funding for many new and existing farmers, producers, processors, and farmers' markets, as well as providing funding for critical food system programs,  training, certification, and insurance. This serves our whole community by funding the food safety training which ensures that they will be able to provide higher quality food products to our local farmers' markets, food trucks, hospitals, other food retailers.

I am dedicated to bringing the lessons I learn in DC back to my home town in Indiana, and making sure our farm-reliant state is part of this very important national conversation. I've talked to local news sources to make sure I can contribute regularly to the local conversation while I am in DC, and I will be posting in real time on Twitter (@FWAgvocate) and Instagram (PocketPotager).

But here's the thing: Taking on this dream job for the summer has proven to be costly. Since the internship is only four months, I need to pay rent on my current apartment, while also paying rent and expenses in DC -- all on an intern's pay (which is slightly above minimum wage). I am doing everything I can to make this work, but I've realized that I can't do it alone. I need your help to make this dream a reality. Thank you so much for any amount you can contribute to my campaign. I am dedicated to inspiring, informing, and engaging others as a result of this experience, and I will continue to pay it forward in my quest for food justice.
