Help Us Keep Our Studio - The Michigan Center for Capoeira.

Who We Are And What We Have Done.
We are The Michigan Center for Capoeira, started in February, 2007 by Baz Michaeli, in Farmington Hills Michigan.

Since then, we have been sharing the art of Capoeira and introducing it by volunteering performances at non-profit events, festivals, and fundraisers such as Relay for Life, Hoopin for Autism, Live In the D, Adat Shalom Synagogue, Art Beats and Eats, Detroit River Day, Marche Du Nain Rouge and many more.

We taught Monthly Introduction Classes for the community, capoeira workshops at kids' camps, after school programs and university such as Hillel Day School, Hartland High School, The Roeper School, Wayne State University, Oakland University, School Craft College, Village Oaks Elementary School, Five Corners Montessori Academy and many more.

During the years, we built a community through Capoeira, a community that opens its doors to everyone regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, build, gender, etc. As we strive to help develop a new generation of healthy, happy and independent human beings through the art of Capoeira and it's community.

For 13 years we have been offering a free monthly gathering for all Capoeira practitioners around Michigan and the US, in which we all came together to share our love for the amazing art of Capoeira. We have friends that have been attending these event, we called our Monthly Open Roda's, since we started them, and we have friends that would travel from other states and even Canada to attend.

FINALY - OUR OWN STUDIO!
Our community, group and school has grown over the years, and in September 2017 we took a huge step in making our dream come true and we got a home for our group. On January 2018, we opened our own studio, an official home for The Michigan Center for Capoeira.

We built the studio with our own hands and the help of our community!

The first 2 years were tough on us, but we managed and learned a lot. Our studio became home to many more activities, Capoeira and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu for Kids, Teens and Adults, Acrobatic Classes, and Fitness programs.

COVID-19
We were starting to get a hang of things, and developing our community and studio, until we had to close our doors due to the Covid-19.

Our studio has been closed since mid-March of 2020. We quickly moved all our classes to an online platform. But with all of our efforts we lost over 70% of our members. For the last few months, we were able to pay the bills and make ends meet, now are savings are almost empty.

As we look forward, we are unsure of when we will be able to re-open safely, it's becoming harder to pay the studios bills.

We love what we do, we love our community, our students, and we love our studio. Today, we are asking for help, so we won't lose our studio.

YOUR SUPPORT AND HELP.
We have been able to fund and support the studio up to now and we have just enough funds for August. We are trying to raise the funds by September 1st 2020.

Your donation will help us tremendously, and will give us the ability to maintain our studio until it will be safe to reopen.

100% of the funds will go to pay for the studio's lease, utilities and maintenance.
 - If we are able to reopen and there will still be funds left, they will go towards the studios reopening expenses.

None of the funds raised will go to any teacher, staff or owner of the studio.

Today, we are asking for your help, to help us keep our studio and home to so many people.

Thank you so much for your help and support. This will assist us to maintain the studio and also give us some of peace of mind, relieve stress and support during these unpredicted times. We greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Baz Michaeli and The Michigan Center for Capoeira.
