On 8th March 2019 our beloved Lou will undergo her fourteenth surgery in four years, in her continuing battle against a progressive cancerous condition.
The surgery, anaesthetist, and post-surgery care will cost more than $10,000.
On top of this expense, Lou will be in recovery for three months post-surgery which means she'll be unable to work at all.
We've lost count of the number of times Lou has organised fundraisers for charitable causes: for Huntington's Disease and Men's cancer and homelessness and Melanoma and animal shelters... the list goes on.
We want to give everyone who has been touched by Lou's kindness the opportunity to return the favour.
100% of the money raised will go to Lou's surgeon's fees, anaesthetist's fees, and post-operative care and treatment.
THE STORY OF OUR LOVELY LOU
Imagine yourself on a beautiful beach in Greece, enjoying the view of a perfect amber sunset after a hard day's work. You feel a weird pain in your abdomen, but you don't think anything of it. You were sick in your early twenties and ever since then, you've been diligently having regular health checks and at your last check, all was well.
A few months later, you’re back in Australia, sitting in front of a doctor after demanding further testing. For the second time in your life, you are being told you are seriously ill and your life is in danger.
You are to start treatment immediately.
You have your first surgery and then you have your second surgery. And then you have your third and then your fourth and then your fifth and then your sixth and then your seventh and then your eighth and then your ninth and then your tenth and then your eleventh and then your twelfth and then your thirteenth surgery.
Three years and $50,000 of debt later, and again, you’re sitting in front of a doctor. You're being told that not only are you still seriously ill, but your only treatment option is to undergo a full hysterectomy and say goodbye to your dream of starting a family.
The procedure will cost more than $10,000.
This is the story of our Lou.
The committed healer.
The loyal friend.
The dependable cousin.
The kind and generous soul.
The caring, patient daughter.
The birthday cake maker.
The surprise party planner.
The hug giver.
The card writer.
The loving wife.
The compassionate friend.
The one-in-a-million human being.
Anyone who's met Lou will attest to the fact she's exceptional; endlessly generous, kind and empathetic and ever-so-strong; a real fighter. She's never one to ask for help, but now more than ever she needs it and we love her too much to let her go at this alone.
Please donate as much as you can, to help Lou pay for this surgery and ease her burden.
Thank you in advance from the bottom of our Lou-loving hearts, Kim, Victoria, Nettie & April
[And to all the generous souls who've donated in the past, we thank you endlessly for your generosity. We can never thank you enough for help and support you've offered Lou. We know she is grateful in ways she'll never be able to express.]
