Help Reg Beat Cancer!

My buddy, Reg Gupton, has advanced prostate cancer and needs your help to meet medical and living expenses.
Reg and I have been great friends for over 30 years. We've worked together and volunteered as directors and committee chairmen for the Boulder Area Realtor Association. We've enjoyed hundreds of miles of hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and cycling with a host of other friends. I've always thought about inviting myself on a trip with his fly-fishing buddies so I could try it out, but never made the time so far. I will go next time.
Fifteen or so years ago, Reg was diagnosed with prostate cancer. An avid reader and researcher, he chose a path of treatment that has allowed him to keep the cancer in check and maintain his active and productive lifestyle without a hitch ... until a few months ago.
Starting in April 2013, new physical clues appeared, including recurring localized pain in his back and hip, plus loss of weight and strength. After a couple of medical visits, Reg was told that the cancer had metastasized.
Although thin and weak, Reg is not a quitter. He is eating well, and taking a variety of supplements and treatments designed to arrest the cancer and rebuild his strength. He is receiving nursing assistance as needed and regular physical therapy at home. Friends take him to medical appointments and on drives to enjoy the Colorado outdoors he is so passionate about. He is determined to stop the cancer, and go back to hiking and fishing.
Here's the bottom line: It takes a surprising amount of money for co-pays, deductibles, prescriptions, and supplements in addition to normal living expenses. Insurance covers some, but the total bill for his last ER visit ran $17,000, for example. Reg does not have sufficient health coverage or personal resources to meet these demands.
