Spanning 38 years, we have never had to ask for help before, but sadly COVID-19 has taken its toll in many ways. With the lack of options to generate income over the last 2 years, we find ourselves at a loss and are reaching out to you all for help to fund this free-to-the-public event.

Nearly 40 years ago when we set up our sound system for the first time on the All Saints Road, little did we know what a journey we had started and how much a part of the joy that is Carnival Rapattack would become. We have been there every year since, without fail. As the years raced by, our commitment to the crowds' enjoyment and safety has increased and we have watched the carnival grow to become the biggest street festival in Europe. Our humble Sound System has developed to be one of the major attractions in providing entertainment for a mature age-group and their families. We are one of Carnival's largest music sound systems, with DJs spinning 100% vinyl (80s Soul, Funk, Disco, House and Dance Classics).

Reflecting our roots, growing up in a multicultural Notting Hill (West London), it was hard to imagine that a mere hobby would provide a means for community justice and also act as a tool for upkeeping awareness following the Grenfell tragedy on our home turf. We certainly would never have guessed the Sound System would develop to educate and project work with underprivileged young people, ultimately influencing a recent return to Brunel University to undertake a Youth and Community Masters degree successfully.

 

We all love Carnival and I hope that Rapattack will be able to perform at Carnival in 2022. Unfortunately, the spiralling costs and the short timeframe due to licensing and public safety mean that we can't afford to do it without your help. Carnival is a joyous occasion, where our dedicated team and DJs have for years volunteered their time without payment.

The estimated combined expenditure is around £14K. We have managed to raise over £3K so far, but still have the rest to find and cannot do it alone. Most people are amazingly unaware of the enormous costs and demands. Health & Public Safety necessitates consideration for Security and Stewards, staging, props and infrastructure- including crowd barriers, transportation, storage, maintenance and hire fees, generators, service equipment, licensing fees and insurance (to name a few).
