Support Oidov - Inclusive Model House in Mongolia

Hello my name is Oidov, I am from Mongolia. I am a disability inclusion activist, entrepreneur, and a person with a disability.
I am here to seek your support on building the FIRST INCLUSIVE HOUSE in Mongolia that is also ECO-FRIENDLY and PASSIVE. The house will be used as a REAL LIVING LABORATORY for students, scholars of different disciplines (like physical therapists and occupational therapists) to learn experientially. Additionally, we hope to engage architects and students pursuing degrees in architecture, urban planning and design who are interested in learning about inclusion, accessibility, passive house principles and universal designing.
Right behind me in the picture you see a traditional nomadic housing called Gher (Yurt). Mongolians have been living in Ghers (yurts) for thousands of years! It is great and convenient when you are a nomad, but it’s not ideal when you live in the urban area with over 1.5 million people where the temperature drops to under -35 degrees in Celsius one third of a year. That’s really cold!

To cope with the severe cold, many families build houses. Unfortunately, nearly all of the houses that are built do not take into consideration the needs of people with physical disabilities or the elderly. This means that NONE of the new housing that is being built, is inclusive or accessible. Additionally, due to poor insulation the majority of these houses are heated by stoves that burn coal and wood. Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, has some of the WORST AIR QUALITY in the world, leading to high rates of asthma and respiratory illness.
As an advocate for inclusion and accessibility for over 15 years, I came to the conclusion that I need to build the house that I am talking about to ensure that it is inclusive, accessible and eco-friendly. To make this a reality, I have purchased land, had my architect friend create a design for the space.
It’s estimated that the project will cost 38 thousand CHF. I intend to finance the FIRST NINETEEN THOUSAND and, with your support, I’m hoping to raise the other NINETEEN THOUSAND. The money you contribute will go directly to the planning and construction of the first INCLUSIVE, ECO-FRIENDLY housing in Mongolia, which will be used as a teaching space for architects, occupational therapists, physical therapies, and people who are interested in learning about accessibility, inclusion, and sustainable living.

Planned INCLUSIVE and ECO-FRIENDLY HOUSE in MongoliaInclusive housing refers to homes that are practical and flexible, and which meet the needs of people of different ages and abilities over time. Such home generally avoids barriers that may discriminate against people living in or visiting the home. Inclusive housing is designed to be useable by most people over their lifetime without the need for major adaptation or specialized design.

Why do we call it ECO-FRIENDLY?
Passive Homes are eco-friendly by design. In Europe, it’s the standard building practice of the future. They’re also the most affordable way to achieve zero-carbon, resulting in energy savings of up to 90% compared to conventional energy systems.

This fundraiser has been set up by Verena Langlotz Kondzic. I am a Swiss Occupational Therapy Lecturer and longtime friend of Oidovs. We have worked on many joint projects including establishing Occupational Therapy in Mongolia. I am helping Oidov to set up his GofundMe project as Mongolia is not on the list of supported countries. I hope many of you will support him.
